UW Global Innovation Exchange: Mentor Perspective

The Global Innovation Exchange is a brand new partnership between the University of Washington, Tsinghua University, and Microsoft, offering unique Masters programs that combine engineering, technology, design, business, and entrepreneurship. This video, featuring GIX Mentor Rich Lappenbusch, is one example from an extensive series I produced for GIX that includes perspectives from students, faculty, staff, and industry professionals.

Weyerhaeuser: Developing Great People

Produced by Red Element Studios, this piece re-purposes interviews that we originally shot for Weyerhaeuser’s main brand identity video, to specifically focus on careers. I directed and edited the piece. Cinematography by Tom Ciaburri. Produced by Jana Bolotin.

UW MHCI+D: Capstone Documentaries 2019

I’ve worked as a freelance video producer for the MHCI+D program at UW for 5 years. For the 2019 cohort, we decided to film process documentaries, as a way of giving the graduating students a public-facing artifact demonstrating their work, while providing prospective students with an inside view of the program. Over the course of 4 shoot days, with a 2-person crew, I directed 33 student interviews, and captured some of the process, team dynamics, and design philosophy behind each project team’s work.

Intended to land somewhere between vérité documentary and low-key promotional content for the students and the program, these videos combine unscripted interviews and fly-on-the-wall filming techniques with minimal branding elements and neutral music. The result is a series of naturalistic short docs, unique to each team’s experience.

Gawkbox: Company Overview Video

Gawkbox is a Seattle startup that helps live streamers on platforms like Twitch earn money through advertiser-sponsored donations. In addition to a series of short product videos I produced for them, I shot and edited this fast-paced company overview video, as general-purpose marketing and recruitment tool.
